Revere Pewter in 2026: Is this Popular Gray Still Trendy?
Is Revere Pewter outdated or timeless? Let’s find out…
When it comes to the wild world of gray, many aren’t trendy anymore. However, if you look at Benjamin Moore’s stats for the previous 15 years, one color was repeatedly in the top five, alongside beiges, whites, and blues, and that color is Revere Pewter.
No other gray has had the longevity of Revere Pewter, making it one of the most timeless shades of gray. But just because a color seems timeless doesn’t make it the right choice for every home and painting situation.
It comes down to moderation and commitment.

When homeowners follow trends (like when the gray trend started in 2010 or beige in the early 2000s), they tend to commit hard. Golden beige walls, carpets, and countertops. Gray cabinets, gray-washed flooring, and gray tiles.

That’s a lot of beige and brown, baby.
We have GOT to be less committed if we want our homes to last through the years – timeless homes don’t revolve around trends. So, when it comes to a gray like Revere Pewter, as with anything (other than wine and shoes), it’s about moderation.
IS REVERE PEWTER STILL A POPULAR CABINET COLOR?
No. And while I could stop right there, you’re not here for my brevity – Lord knows this girl can talk…
While Revere Pewter still shows up in kitchens, it’s not nearly as popular as in previous years.
I painted my kitchen cabinets in 2018 (darkened by approx. 50%). While there are times I regret my choice (as it greatly limits my wall color options), because I surrounded it with flexible finishes, it still looks trendy – heck, it even skated through the white trend of the previous 5-7 years without batting an eye.

Would I paint my cabinet Revere Pewter TODAY? No. Again, the depth of Revere Pewter limits my options for wall colors. I love it, but I can’t change my walls easily, and that’s a huge PITA for this color cowgirl. But, if I wanted to paint my cabinets gray, this is one of the few gray paint colors I’d consider, as it’s the most timeless.

My walls aren’t that warm-yellow; it’s just the photography
Would I suggest Revere Pewter to one of my Online Color Consulting clients if they were in love with gray?
- Yes, if it suits their countertop and backsplash.
- Yes, if they understand the limitations of their current and future wall color.
- No, if they like to change their wall color every once in a while.
- Yes, if they’re open to darkening it a bit to open up their wall color options and offer a bit more depth (especially in a bright kitchen).
Would I recommend any other light gray cabinets with a similar depth?
- With only a FEW exceptions, no.
- If a particular gray was the only option based on their current countertop and backsplash, sure.
Generally speaking, kitchen cabinet trends are warmer, including a few of these colors…

SHOULD YOU PAINT YOUR CABINETS REVERE PEWTER (2026)?
Schlong story…long, Revere Pewter is still an excellent choice for kitchen cabinets for 2026 if it makes sense for the previously stated reasons.
In other words, if it’s the best and only color for your kitchen, and white won’t do, then have at ‘er.
IS REVERE PEWTER STILL POPULAR FOR ROOMS?
If this were 2015 and you wanted to paint all of the rooms in your home Revere Pewter, sure, we might chat about moderation, but otherwise, you’d fill your little pewter-clad boots.
However, since we’re in 2026 and gray is OUT, it’s a hard no from me. In fact, it’s such a hard no that I’m getting a little excited (wink wink).

SHOULD YOU PAINT YOUR ROOM REVERE PEWTER IN 2026?
If you want to paint a few rooms Revere Pewter, my answer is 1000x, yes. Again, this color has been one of the top shades for the last 15 years and is still going strong. But since the gray trend is out, I wouldn’t go too hard with it.
Revere Pewter’s soft, organic warmth settles especially well in south-facing rooms and those with western afternoon sunshine.

IS REVERE PEWTER POPULAR FOR TRIMS & DOORS?
The idea of painting your trims and doors a color other than white has popped up in the last few years, just as the gray trend faded. Generally speaking, Revere Pewter can be beautiful on doors and trims thanks to its warmth. However, with warmer trends, more are leaning into more beige-based neutrals (and black doors are long gone, thank goodness, as they’re too harsh for the average home).

Here’s your Peel & Stick sample of Revere Pewter…
I have Revere Pewter (darkened) on my interior doors (below), and other than being limited on wall color partners, I love them and don’t want the old white back (I’ll always have something OTHER than white on my main floor doors).

SHOULD YOU PAINT YOUR INTERIOR DOORS REVERE PEWTER IN 2026?
Heck no. And I say that with love, as I love mine. But, if you’re worried about trends, there are better options (I highly suggest sticking with the timeless look of white. Instead, add accent key interior doors).

IS REVERE PEWTER GOOD FOR EXTERIOR SIDING & STUCCO?
Choosing exterior paint colors is all about what suits your stone, brick, roof, window color, or other features. Sure, interiors have the same limitations; however, grays are far less likely to look dated on an exterior, as long as they suit their surroundings.
So, yes, if Revere Pewter is the best color for your exterior finishes, it can be an awesome, timeless choice.

You bet your boot scootin’ booty you should. It’s a great exterior color. Leave the ‘trends’ for your shutters and front door – let the siding or stucco on your home be timeless and classic.

We’re about to close on a house and I was ready to go in there with paint guns blazing and Revere Pewter it up! If Revere Pewter is on its way out, what is taking its place? Would you say that Accessible Beige is on its way out too?
Oh, it’s so hard, as RP is so pretty and IS TIMELESS…I’m just not so sure I’d do a WHOLE home, you know? People are definitely leaning warmer – colors like SW Aesthetic White, SW Natural Linen, BM Maritime White. Accessible Beige is still in, and while it seemed to be going away, with the warmer, moody trends being a bit in, I wouldn’t be surprised if it sticks around. That’s one reason I like Aesthetic White is because it’s like Accessible Beige, but lighter. You could even darken Aesthetic White by 25% for a happy medium???
Thank you so much! Our painter is a BM guy. Can you give a few other while house 55-ish LRV recommendations of BM paints?
Revere Pewter is such a timeless and versatile color! I love how it balances warmth and neutrality, making it suitable for so many spaces. Your insights into how lighting affects its appearance are so helpful—especially the reminder about natural versus artificial light. Thanks for sharing this!
Thank you for your comment, Andrew!
So glad I found this as I just read your post about painting your kitchen cabinets in RP. I had almost decided to do that, but now I’m reevaluating. We definitely do not want GRAY, looking for more of a cream. Walls are SW Alabaster now, and would be getting new counters and backsplash. Since I love the Alabaster, I’m now thinking maybe the cabinets should simply be Alabaster, too! Wish me luck!
