Sherwin Williams Argos: LRV, Undertones and a Little More

If you’re looking for a gray with a bit more ‘color and interest’, you’re going to LOVE Sherwin Williams Argos!

What type of paint color is Argos? Is it warm or cool? 

Argos is a gray paint color, but with its depth and strong blend of blue and green undertones, it’s not running in the same world as some of the more traditional cool gray paint colors.

If you have north-facing light, you will find Argos looking that bit MORE cool as its compounded by that cold northern light. However, Argos can be a GORGEOUS balance to the warmth of south-facing or afternoon western light!

What’s the LRV of Argos?

Argos has an LRV of 51. This puts it in the light-medium range, so it won’t wash-out as much as a lighter color can in BRIGHT light, but isn’t so dark that it will weigh the average room down. (learn more HERE).

What are the undertones of Argos? Will it look like a true gray?

Argos definitely won’t look like a true gray as it has a decent green-blue undertone that tends to SLIGHTLY favour green over blue, but this can shift depending on its surroundings and exposure.

When it comes to the best white paint color with Argos, it depends on the look you’re going for.

• If you want a slightly softer approach, Sherwin Williams Pure White could be quite pretty
• If you want a cleaner, crisp contrast, try Sherwin Williams High Reflective White

Is Argos a good color for the exterior of my home? 

Argos could definitely be a pretty color for the exterior of your home as it suits quite a few of today’s most popular asphalt roofs. If you have warm-toned stone or brick, it will contrast it without looking TOO colorful.

Is Argos a popular paint color right now?

Argos isn’t SUPER popular, only because of its depth, as most of my Online Paint Color Consulting clients lean a bit more into the light range when it comes to the more popular gray paint colors.

What Benjamin Moore paint colors are the same as or similar to Argos?

You won’t find an exact match for ANY color between brands – you WILL see shifts in undertones, temperature and depths. However, there are some with similar intentions, but different approaches…

• Benjamin Moore Misted Green (more color)
• Benjamin Moore Iced Marble (closest)

What type of paint colors look good with Argos?

Argos is pretty flexible when it comes to its paint partners, with options such as…

• some light and light-medium depth gray and greige paint colors
• soft off-white paint colors in the neutral range
• muted, gentle neutral paint colors such as Sherwin Williams White Duck
• stronger, darker grays with blue-green undertones
