2 Real-Life Green Laundry Room Makeovers
While laundry rooms are the workhorses of a home, it doesn’t take much to make them look beautiful. In fact, they’re one of the best places to add a little color and personality, making laundry time a little more fun.
However, it takes guts to commit to a color that’s outside of the neutral range. So, not only were my Online Color Consulting clients brave enough to embrace something fun and fab for their cabinets, but they also made other affordable update choices along the way.

GREEN LAUNDRY ROOM #1
BEFORE: Take a good look at this room, as you won’t recognize it in a few seconds…
AFTER: May I formally introduce you to a color that will leave you freakin’ GREEN with envy – Benjamin Moore Caldwell Green!
If you look at Caldwell Green in the fan deck, it doesn’t look like this. This is a combination of natural light and photography skills. That said, this is why it’s SO important to sample and compare colors in your own space.

Seriously, you don’t need to be Kermit to appreciate this green beauty in all her glory…

Because there’s a wee small countertop area, using white quartz was a worthwhile option, along with a white farmhouse sink to contrast the dark gray washer and dryer.
The countertop is Roma quartz, a beautiful white quartz with soft gray veining. I also love how the black hardware and oil rubbed bronze faucet add CONTRAST and interest to the palette, giving the dark gray washer and dryer something to visually connect with.
As for the walls, you’re looking at Sherwin Williams Pure White, which is a great choice for this room’s south-facing exposure.

GREEN LAUNDRY ROOM MAKEOVER #2
While I can’t seem to find the before photos for this next laundry room, it’s easy to see that it turned out pretty well, if I do say so myself!

The Best Sage Green Cabinet Colors
These laundry cabinets are painted Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog – a super popular, sage-inspired green.
A few of the affordable updates made to this laundry room include…

- White subway tile backsplash with a glazed finish (see my favorite white subway tiles).
- A laminate countertop that looks like butcher block, but is WAY harder.
- Vinyl flooring rather than tile.
And a bonus green laundry room, just for sharts n’ giggles (hopefully more giggles than sharts)…
GREEN LAUNDRY ROOM #3
I don’t have before photos of the next laundry room, as it’s a brand-new home. However, the finished room is badass and beautiful in all its green glory…

The walls in this laundry room are Benjamin Moore White Dove, and the cabinets are Farrow & Ball’s Green Smoke (soooo gorg).
What do you think, are you feeling brave enough to embrace a little bit of color in your laundry room or bathroom? LET’S DO IT!

What direction of light does this room get? I have coincidentally been considering Caldwell Green as a top choice for my new kitchen cabinets, but I wanted more of a “moody” look and it looks much lighter in these photos than I would expect from the swatch.
I’m actually not sure, but I can ask her!
BTW, go into the ‘search’ on the right-hand side of my blog and type in Caldwell Green. I know I have another image of it in a laundry room with green backsplash tile. There’s a GOOD shot of light on this project and my client also takes great photos and you could expect it to look more muted in different lighting ;).
Actually, here it is – the photo near the VERY BOTTOM! https://www.kylieminteriors.ca/the-best-benjamin-moore-cool-paint-colours-blue-and-green/
Hi Kylie, thanks for the link! I saw a photo of a mudroom with green backsplash, but the blog post seems to say that the cabinet color is BM Avon Green, not Caldwell Green?
UGH, I’m such a dork, I mixed them up, I’m sorry, it IS Avon Green!
So, if you’re worried about Caldwell being a bit light and want something a moodier, I mean, if you have a lower light room, that would DEFINITELY affect things. The sheen of cabinet paint (satin) really lightens colours up when hit with light and that’s definitely happening.
If you have a lot of light, you may want a bit darker and a touch grayer even, like Benjamin Moore Rainy Afternoon? If it’s a darker room, but it’s not moody enough, again, a bit of gray could help without having to go any darker?
It’s a U-shaped kitchen with SE and NE windows, opening onto a dining nook that has a bank of 3 NE windows plus a NW window — so, there will be a lot of light in the daytime! I was thinking SW Pewter Green but worried it might be TOO dark. Seeing how much the Caldwell Green lightened up on cabinets in a bright room, though, maybe I shouldn’t be that worried. BM Rainy Afternoon looks super promising too, I’ll have to get a swatch of that!
(The extra complication here is that this kitchen is in a different state, in a family home that we’re renovating remotely, so I can’t directly test swatches in the space at the moment.)
Hi!
Love your blog! Does White Dove come off as white, as I think it looks in this laundry room? I am thinking of it for an open -concept living room, sunroom, kitchen in my home……
Thanks!
Beautiful transformation! How deep are your cabinets? Noticed they must be deeper than the standard 24” cabinets as they come out as far as your washer and dryer. Great idea!
