The 10 Best Green Bedroom Paint Colors
Shades of green, fit for a king…or queen
When it comes to the most popular bedroom paint colors, blue and green are hard to beat. But what if you don’t like blue? Join my club. While I love darker shades of blue and blue-gray, blue generally doesn’t float my boat. This said, I’m also more inclined to paint my bedroom a neutral color and use blues and greens as accents…
But it’s not all about me (not all the time, anyway).
There are two main types: green-blue (cool) and green-yellow (warm). While green-blue blends are more popular in bedrooms, warmer greens have their following. As an example (of sorts), look at the green paint color on the walls in this bedroom below. Compare it to the green throw on the end of the bed…

Notice how the wall color seems less warm and a bit cleaner than the warm green linens (this is my client’s before photo; I’m eagerly waiting for the after!) While this doesn’t show a clear picture of warm green vs. cool green, it shows how carefully you need to coordinate when using color!
Of course, the odd shade of green looks pretty well-balanced, not favoring blue or yellow, but these can shift a lot based on your room’s exposure, interior finishes, and perception.
So, without further ado, let’s find a beautiful green hue for you.

All the photos in my blog are from my Online Color Consulting clients, readers, and friends— because real homes deserve to be celebrated (dirty laundry and all!) While not magazine-perfect, they’re packed with ideas and proven color choices to help you create a home you’ll love.
1. BENJAMIN MOORE FERNWOOD GREEN 2145-40
Fernwood Green is a stunningly warm shade of green. It’s also one of the more cheerful options on this page, but it still has a subtle neutral backdrop to calm it down.

The Best Paint Colors with Red Woods
Fernwood Green is relatively color-forward – it ain’t messin’ around. With a noticeable degree of color (green), Fernwood Green has more personality and pizazz. Aside from this shade, the more popular light to medium greens are often more muted and grayed out, at least for bedrooms.
If you’re nervous about too much color, this could go too far (and I have stronger green-gray alternatives HERE), but if you’re one lean, mean, green-lovin’ machine, this could hit your happy place!
2. SHERWIN WILLIAMS LIVEABLE GREEN SW 6176
If you’re looking for a very liveable green, Liveable Green is the color for you.
What makes it so appealing?
While it says ‘green,’ it’s not at all overbearing. With a wee willy wink of warmth, this shade is a great way to commit to green without making Miss Piggy jealous.

As for depth, Liveable Green has an LRV of 61, tiptoeing on the edge of my happy range.
3. SHERWIN WILLIAMS CASCADE GREEN 0066
Cascade Green doesn’t get nearly the attention it should, and if you ask me, it’s because of its placement in the Sherwin Williams fan deck.
Whereas most of the popular greens are grouped in the same section, Cascade Green is shoved up in the Historic Collection (a range easily passed over).

As shown in the above bedroom, Cascade Green isn’t shy about its color. However, as far as greens go, it’s not remotely overwhelming.
One of the best colors to compare with Cascade Green is Sherwin Williams Softened Green (also a gorgeous option, I just don’t have an image of it). Both colors have a similar approach to ‘color’, but Cascade Green is a bit cooler and darker (LRV 43 ).
Here’s a Peel & Stick sample of Softened Green to check out…
4. SHERWIN WILLIAMS EVERGREEN FOG SW9130
There’s a good reason Evergreen Fog was Sherwin Williams Color of the Year (a few years ago)—it’s stinkin’ gorgeous and still popular. While some see Evergreen Fog as having more gray than green, it tends to be ‘color-forward,’ but the gray keeps it toned down.

Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog: Paint Color Review
Evergreen Fog is a bit darker than the average shade on this page. With its LRV of 30, it’s smack-dab in the middle of the medium-depths.

Here’s the above Peel & Stick sample of Evergreen Fog (9″ x 12″), shown with Benjamin Moore Ballet White
Compare Evergreen Fog to Sherwin Williams Acacia Haze, a similar color with a different blend of green undertones.
5. BENJAMIN MOORE OCTOBER MIST 1495
While Evergreen Fog was Sherwin William’s Color of the Year (2022), it ran (and is still runnin’) neck and neck with Benjamin Moore’s COTY for 2022 – October Mist. October Mist is another moody shade of green, with a healthy dose of gray calming it down.

That’s the beauty of colors like these.
So many Colors of the Year show up only for a good time, not a long time (and sometimes not even a good time).
October Mist is still popular, not just for bedrooms but for kitchens and living rooms, too.

Benjamin Moore Paint Color Review: October Mist
October Mist is a light-medium-depth paint color with a smoky, organic vibe. While it’s just as popular as Evergreen Fog, it’s a good chunk lighter and brighter, making it a bit more usable for the average room.
Why?
Not as many people want to commit to the depth of Evergreen Fog. Sure, October Mist still carries some weight, but it’s gentler in its approach.
6. BENJAMIN MOORE SPANISH OLIVE 1509
The warmth of Spanish Olive hits the perfect spot, offering a modest approach to green-yellow, as shown in this kid’s bedroom…

How to Choose the Best Green Paint Colors
While Fernwood Green is also a warm green, there’s a drastic difference between the two. Fernwood Green is a more cheerful approach to green with a tamer neutral base; Spanish Olive has a strong greige backdrop, giving it a more organic, nature-inspired look. Some might call it ‘calmer.’
The Most Calming, Soothing Paint Colors to Reduce Stress
The LRV of Spanish Olive is 52.04, so it has a bit more depth than the average paint color – it’s more of a light-medium depth, not a light one. This means it offers a nice contrast with warm white trim and adds personality to your walls without going over the top like medium-depth and darker shades of green can.
7. BENJAMIN MOORE SOFT FERN 2144-40
Soft Fern is as pretty as it sounds. With a subtle warmth and earthy foundation, Soft Fern is a relaxing, calming paint color for almost any bedroom.

Now, compare Soft Fern to a shade like Spanish Olive (#5), and you’ll see a good difference. While Spanish Olive is a bit darker, notice how it looks muddier than Soft Fern, which seems cleaner and more genuine in comparison.
Comparing colors is a great way to determine which temperature, depth, and undertone blend best suits you and your room!

8. SHERWIN WILLIAM SEA SALT SW 6204
It’s a toss-up whether Sea Salt should be in the blue bedroom blog post, this green one, or a recipe blog. While Sherwin Williams Sea Salt is a green-gray at heart, due to its genetics, it just as easily leans into blue, sometimes shockingly so!
Check out Sea Salt in this kitchen acting as a lighter accent to the dark wood flooring and cabinets…

Now, see how it looks in this 2000s bathroom with travertine tile (this is my client’s BEFORE photo, as Sea Salt isn’t the right color for travertine)…

And here it is again, looking much more like a green-gray paint color…

While you should carefully sample and compare all colors, Sea Salt is a color chameleon, so do your due diligence with this bad boy.
By the way, if you like the look of Sea Salt but crave just a wink more depth, check out Sherwin Williams Comfort Gray—it’s a stunner.

9. SHERWIN WILLIAMS NIGHT OWL 7061
Let’s dive a little deeper with Night Owl. This wickedly dark shade of green adds a moody vibe to any bedroom. Thanks to a ‘reasonable but not overwhelming degree of green,’ it handles itself well in various lighting scenarios – even a darker room can look interesting in this shade.

If this is up your alley, I’ve got the BEST BLOG POST FOR YOU. In the meantime, here’s a short list of a few of my favorite darker shades of green…
- Sherwin Williams Ripe Olive
- Sherwin Williams Pewter Green
- Benjamin Moore Vintage Vogue
- Sherwin Williams Retreat
10. SHERWIN WILLIAMS ROSEMARY 6187
Some greens are a bit too strong for an entire room (depending on your perception), but make for stunning accent or feature walls. Sherwin Williams Rosemary is one of these colors.

While you can put it on all the walls, some colors shine when contrasting with the perfect, warm off-white paint color.
HONORABLE MENTIONS…
Just because they didn’t make the top 10, doesn’t mean they aren’t amazeballs…
- Sherwin Williams Austere Gray (has more gray, but DANG – she purdy)
- Benjamin Moore Paris Rain has a gorgeous, gentle warmth (find it along with similar shades in this blog post).
- Sherwin Williams Sedate Gray is a beautiful greige-green blend.
- Benjamin Moore Vale Mist – a bit cleaner and greener than Paris Rain, but equally as gorg. If you love sage paint colors, it’s a beauty.
