Cashmere Kitchen Ideas for 2026: Cabinets, Colors, Finishes & More
The Cashmere Kitchen trend & how to design one.
With the revolving door of kitchen trends, it’s no surprise that a new style of kitchen has hit our Pinterest boards and Instagram feeds for 2026. This new style envelops you in velvety-smooth, latte-inspired paint colors, aged metals, and natural stone countertops. Now, let’s take a look at what we fondly refer to as…
The Cashmere Kitchen.
WHAT IS A CASHMERE KITCHEN?
In previous kitchen trends, we swam (I skinny-dipped) in a sea of white cabinets, navy blue islands, white oak flooring, and black hardware (or nickel, as shown below).

While some of these finishes still have their place, more homeowners are choosing softer, more organic kitchen finishes, including those found in a Cashmere Kitchen.

This kitchen has quite a few cashmere-inspired features – I LOVE THE FLOOR!
The Cashmere Kitchen is warmer and more inviting than the gray kitchen palettes of the 2010s to 2020s, and the white-on-white-on-white kitchens of the last 5-7 years.
While what’s ‘warm and inviting’ can be open to perception (I’ve seen some super inviting white kitchens), it’s not just personal tastes that drive the bus. You’ll see that the color and depth of the finishes in a Cashmere Kitchen offer a cozier, more organic, and welcoming vibe than previous styles.

This kitchen features some cashmere elements, but the nickel hardware makes it a bit more transitional – I CAN’T WAIT to see how it all comes together.
Let’s look at this next kitchen (2 photos) and chat about what makes it ‘close’ but no cigar…

CASHMERE FEATURES
- Muted beige paint color on the cabinets
- Low-contrast paint color on the walls
- Cabinet-ready appliances
- Antique brass cabinet hardware
This kitchen is wickedly gorgeous, but it’s not a ‘Cashmere Kitchen’.

NON-CASHMERE FEATURES
3 things have this train falling off its beautifully laid tracks…
- The kitchen island is painted a dark, moody paint color, rather than matching the main cabinets.
- The wood stain on the floor has a strong orange hue.
- The cabinet door profile is far more traditional, rather than transitional (e.g., regular or thin shaker).
And while there’s room to be creative (let’s be honest, there’s ALWAYS room for that), it’s important to have most of the following bones in place…
CABINET COLORS FOR A CASHMERE KITCHEN
A Cashmere Kitchen can humor a wide range of cabinet colors, but the best colors are within certain categories. This includes warm off-white paint colors, gentle, stone-inspired beiges, taupes, and greiges with moderate depth (e.g., LRVs of 45-75, but more commonly 45-60). You’ll find links to these colors shortly!

While it can still look amazeballs, the whiter your kitchen cabinets are, the less cashmere they’ll look…

The White Warm, Creamy White Paint Colors
As for wood cabinets, while the odd Cashmere Kitchen features stained white oak (natural or a slight color), they aren’t as common or typical for this style of kitchen.

REVIEWS: BM White Dove | SW Accessible Beige | SW Anew Gray | SW Balanced Beige | SW Amazing Gray | SW Loggia
Of the above bunch, White Dove, Accessible Beige, and Balanced Beige are the most popular for a cashmere-inspired space. But that’s not to say that YOUR perfect color isn’t one of the others – sample, compare, have fun!
WALL PAINT COLORS
The walls in a Cashmere Kitchen are usually low-contrast with the cabinets and are a tone (or two) lighter – heck, sometimes they even match the cabinets. The temperature of these colors is always warm – never cold. Most often, this means the walls are a soft, warm shade of white or an off-white paint color.
- The Best Off-White, Warm Neutral Paint Colors, of which I’m a huge fan of Shoji White and Aesthetic White.
- The Best Warm Whites from Benjamin Moore, which includes the BEST warm white paint color, Benjamin Moore White Dove.
- Warm White Paint Colors from Sherwin Williams, including Alabaster.

COUNTERTOPS
Natural stone leads the way in the Cashmere Kitchen, including low-key, warm-toned quartzite countertops or subtle quartz counters. In particular, Taj Mahal quartzite is one of the most popular quartzite or quartz countertops for 2026.

While some opt for black quartz (or honed black granite), others lean into a softer, warmer tone (personally, I love black countertops). Black countertops are a bit less cashmere, as the contrast is high.

While there are cashmere elements (cabinet/walls), that wasn’t this kitchen’s goal.

BACKSPLASH IDEAS
Zellige tile backsplashes remain reasonably popular and are super popular for Cashmere Kitchen designs. You’ll also see a range of subway tiles.
However, one of my favorite applications is the slab backsplash. This is where the countertop product is applied (in a thinner sheet) to the backsplash area.
CABINET HARDWARE
In a Cashmere Kitchen, the best cabinet knobs and handles are more lived-in and loved-in, featuring aged finishes – most commonly an aged brass or antique brass/gold. Black or nickel hardware doesn’t fall even remotely under this look. Even shiny gold can be touch-and-go.

FLOORING
The flooring in a Cashmere Kitchen is most often wood, but it is typically stained a neutral tone, neither overly light nor dark. Another popular flooring option is travertine tile, a natural stone (yes, it’s back!).
KITCHEN ISLANDS
Islands are most often painted the same color as the main cabinets. While the odd stained wood island pops up here and there, they aren’t as common.

Of course, if the main cabinets are stained wood, the island will be too…

One thing you won’t find is islands painted a color different from the main cabinets, as Cashmere kitchens don’t support that look.
THE BEST APPLIANCE COLOR FOR A CASHMERE KITCHEN
While GE Cafe Matte Black is a popular choice in some kitchens, I find it too dark and contrasting to satisfy a real ‘cashmere kitchen’ look (but it’s not ALL about me – not all the time, anyway).

In the ideal (and expensive/not always doable) world, your appliances would be ‘cabinet-ready’ so you could cover them with a cabinet door. This makes the blend in and supports the soft, seamless look you’re going for.
While GE matte black is contrasting, I like how you can choose appliance handles that match your cabinet hardware.

HOWEVER, in the real world of tight budgets, stainless steel is the top choice (and yes, you can easily mix stainless steel appliances with gold/brass hardware). I’d avoid black appliances, and white is iffy, as ‘appliance white’ is whiter than my legs in the dead of Winter. This said, some love the GE Cafe White look – you do you, boo.
CASHMERE-INSPIRED ACCENTS
Whether it’s on beams, flooring, or a cutting board, wood plays a strong part in the Cashmere Kitchen. These woods often have a slightly rustic nod – nothing is too precious or perfect.

Cashmere kitchens don’t feature strong accent colors like blue or green. Instead, you’ll find thoughtful layers of lived-in decor, including baskets, wood elements, natural finishes, plants, and organic-looking items.
So there you have it! If you’re thinking of creating a Cashmere Kitchen for your home, these tips and ideas should get you started.
However…there’s something to be said for a timeless home with more ‘polite nods’ to trends – just sayin’.
