The Best Medium-Toned Greige – Fawn Brindle
If you’re tired of the light gray trend and looking for a color with a bit more body and warmth, look no further than Fawn Brindle. As the world leans warmer, I bet we’ll be seeing more of this beautiful neutral which is why we’re taking a closer look at it today…
In order to show you RELATEABLE & REAL homes, I ONLY use photos from my Online Color Consulting clients. This means I don’t always have the quality photos I need or the RIGHT photos, but DEFINITELY have some SUPER helpful info to help you on your way!
What type of paint color is Fawn Brindle – warm gray, greige or taupe?
Fawn Brindle is a warm color with a very subtle green undertone, making it a GREIGE paint color. If you’re not sure about the difference between greige and taupe, you may want to read THIS.
If you have a home with north-facing light (either interior or exterior), you can expect Fawn Brindle to look as expected or lean just a wink back into gray (just a touch). However, if you have south-facing light or afternoon western sunshine, expect this bad boy to warm right up without looking beige.

What’s the LRV of Fawn Brindle?
With an LRV of 36, Fawn Brindle is the PERFECT medium depth. If you have a dark room, it will lean into its depth/warmth that bit more, but if you have a BRIGHT room it won’t wash out as much as light colors will.
Not sure what LRV is? It could save your paint lovin’ life – read all about it HERE.
What are the undertones of Fawn Brindle?
As discussed above, Fawn Brindle has a green undertone. Is it OBVIOUS? Whether you’re sensitive to green or not, Fawn Brindle’s undertone is noticeable compared to Mega Greige, but not quite as noticeable as Intellectual Gray.
What’s the best way to sample any paint color?
Like with every paint color, I highly recommend using SAMPLIZE. Samplize is a peel & stick paint sample that you can easily move around your room for over HALF THE COST of traditional sample pots – and they deliver right to your front door!

What’s the best white trim color with Fawn Brindle?
Fawn Brindle is pretty flexible when it comes to whites, although it leans into whites that aren’t OVERLY creamy warm. At the most, you could look at Sherwin Williams Alabaster (ideally, but you could squeeze in a slightly warmer white if needed), but more preferably, Pure White or High Reflective White.

Hi Kylie, I’m painting a large ocean front house Edgecomb gray ( thanks to you). I’m thinking of using either SW Fawn Brindle or BM Rockport gray for shutters & garages doors. What do you think?
Thanks,
Deborah

Hi Deborah! I would lean into Fawn Brindle over Rockport, personally 🙂
