Mega Greige: LRV, Undertones & a Little More
When it comes to the most popular greige and taupe paint colors, the top shades sit in the off-white and light depths. Not this bad boy! Mega Greige is an option for those who like a color with a bit more meat on its bones. Oh, it has that, and a whole lot more…
What type of paint color is Mega Greige? Is it warm or cool?
Mega Greige is a greige paint color that can ALSO pass as a taupe – many colors come down to PERCEPTION. But either way, Mega Greige sits in between gray and beige, which also makes it a WARM paint color.
Even if you have cool northern light, you’ll find Mega Greige holding its color without falling cold. In a south-facing room or room with western afternoon sunshine, expect Mega Greige to lean into its warm roots in a WONDERFUL way!
What’s the LRV of Mega Greige?
Mega Greige has an LRV of 37, making it a medium-depth paint color. HOWEVER, as far as colors in this range go, Mega Greige is on the lighter, softer side of things (learn more HERE).
With this LRV, Mega Greige has the potential to look a bit flat or dull in a low-light room, whether that’s due to not enough natural or interior lighting. However, with this slightly lower LRV, Mega Greige is an AWESOME choice for those who want to give a bit of depth and body to their WELL-lit room, without weighing the room down too much.
As you can see in the above photo, Mega Greige falls a bit flat. The reason it passes the test is that the white board & batten add energy and LIFE to the space. If all of the walls were Mega Greige, it would look way too drab.

What are the undertones of Mega Greige?
The great thing about Mega Greige and its lighter versions, Anew Gray and Agreeable Gray, is that they have VERY little undertone. While there’s a tiny green hue hiding deep inside, it rarely shows up at the party.
With this subtlety, these colors can even look slightly taupe (violet undertone) in some situations. Remember, the LESS a paint color commits to one undertone, the more likely it is to flash into the others.
What’s the best way to sample this paint color?
Like with every paint color, I highly recommend using SAMPLIZE. Samplize is a peel & stick paint sample that you can easily move around your room for over HALF THE COST of traditional sample pots – and they deliver right to your front door!
