Benjamin Moore Bleeker Beige & Bennington Gray: Undertones & More
With beige and tan being the paint world’s current darlings, it’s time we explore the undertones and approaches of Bleeker Beige and Bennington Gray. And while these particular warm neutrals aren’t talked about as much, I bet in the coming years we could be seeing a lot more of these two bad boys.

99.5% of the photos in my blog are of REAL HOMES from my Online Color Consulting clients, readers, and friends. While not always magazine-perfect, they’re packed with ideas and proven color choices to help you create a home you’ll love.
WHAT TYPE OF COLORS ARE BLEEKER BEIGE & BENNINGTON GRAY?
Bleeker Beige is a tan paint color. As for Bennington Gray, ignore its name, as it’s not gray, greige, or taupe – it’s tan and proud of it.
This means both colors are warm neutrals; however, they’re less orange-pink than many common beiges thanks to their undertones, which we’ll get to shortly.
Bleeker Beige
Bleeker Beige and Bennington Gray are great colors for ANY exposure, as long as there’s adequate light. In low-light rooms, especially north or east-facing ones, both can look a bit dingy, losing some of their beautiful passive warmth in the process.

North, East, South, West – Which Paint Color is the Best?
THE LRVS OF BLEEKER BEIGE & BENNINGTON GRAY
With an LRV of 51.66, Bleeker Beige is a light-medium depth paint color that offers more contrast with white trim than the more popular light beige and tan paint colors. This makes it popular with my clients who want a color with a bit more meat on their bones, without going into the brown or greige worlds.
Bennington Gray is DARKER than Bleeker Beige, with an LRV of 46.68, placing it in the medium range.
Again, if you have a room with low natural or interior lighting, both of these colors can look dingy. However, of the two, I would choose Bennington Gray, as it at least has a bit more body and richness.

WHAT ARE THEIR UNDERTONES?
Being tan paint colors, both Bleeker Beige and Bennington Gray have a yellow undertone. Yellow undertones love to lean into green or orange – both of these colors have a yellow-green undertone, keeping in mind that both are reasonably passive.
You’ll notice these undertones more if you pair these paint colors with a finish that has more orange or pink undertones…which I kindly don’t suggest (common in 2000s homes, so be careful).
The above project was tricky. Bleeker Beige was previously in place and wasn’t being changed, but my client installed new carpet at the top of the stairs with different undertones. The new carpet called for a different paint color on the back wall. We landed on Benjamin Moore Kingsport Gray as the solution; however, you wouldn’t normally partner Bleeker Beige with a taupe.

ARE THEY POPULAR EXTERIOR PAINT COLORS?
Neither Bleeker Beige nor Bennington Gray is a popular exterior paint color, as their undertones don’t suit many roofs or stone/brick finishes. You may want to venture into a more muted beige along the lines of Sherwin Williams Balanced Beige or Tony Taupe.

WHAT COLORS GO WITH BENNINGTON GRAY & BLEEKER BEIGE
Of course, it depends on the color palette your building and why – eg, walls and cabinets, adjoining rooms, etc. However, these should get you started…
- DARK GRAYS: Especially dark grays with green undertones.
- DARK GREIGES: Darker greige paint colors can be beautiful accents to these 2 neutrals, from the medium range to the dark end.
- SIMILAR NEUTRALS: Lighter neutrals with a similar undertone profile
- CREAMS: Some cream paint colors, as long as they don’t have much orange in them
- OFF-WHITE: They suit a wide range of warm off-whites, which can be handy for adjoining rooms.

I have a north facing Bennington Gray shed. The shed door is Chelsea Gray but the Chelsea Gray reads way too cold. I have tried so many samples but Bennington is hard to match! What is a door color that could compliment Bennington Gray in northern exposure?
Ooo, check out a shade with a warmer green undertone. I love SW Porpoise!
Thoughts on SW Nantucket dune vs Sand Beach
Hi, hoping u can help! We have Bleeker beige trim/doors in our home. Want to do our interior bedroom and looking for a new colour. currently have manchester tan on the walls. Looking for a new colour…was thinking edgecomb gray with a dark blue feature wall! Any thoughts? Thanks Melanie
Ooooo, nope, wouldn’t do that. Bleeker Beige is going to be VERY FUSSY and won’t love a greige-taupe like Edgecomb Gray! It would take some careful mixing and matching, but I don’t think you’ll have a TON of room to move! I’m happy to look at options, but it’s a bit more complicated with Bleeker Beige, so I’d refer to my consulting 🙂 https://www.kylieminteriors.ca/hire-kylie/
