Sherwin Williams Quietude: the best blue-green on the market? Maybe!

When it comes to the COLORFUL end of things, blue and green are definitely the POPULAR kids on the block. And when they’re blended together? Pure magic. This is why today we’re spending time with one of my FAVOURITE blue-green blends, Sherwin Williams Quietude.

What type of paint color is Quietude? Is it warm or cool?

Quietude is DEFINITELY a cool paint color, but thanks to its particular blend, it offers a softer approach compared to traditional blue paint colors and many of the popular gray paint colors.

For this reason, even though it’s a cool paint color, Quietude can be a pretty choice for a north-facing room. On the other hand, its cool vibe adds balance to an overheated south-facing room or room with western afternoon sunshine.

What’s the LRV of Quietude?

Quietude has an LRV of 48, making it a light-medium depth paint color. If you have a dark room, thanks to the AMOUNT of color in Quietude, it will still show up to the party (just not as well as it would in a room with adequate lighting). Just in keep in mind, it’s STILL a light-medium depth paint color – not a light depth paint color and will add some visual weight to your room.

If you have a SUPER bright room, Quietude’s slightly lower LRV helps it to not wash out as much as its lighter version, Rainwashed will (although even Rainwashed holds itself a bit better than some of the popular light depth shades).

What are the undertones of Quietude? Will it look blue or green?

When it comes to a color like Quietude, REGARDLESS of what it IS, a lot comes down to perception. How so? Well, if you’re sensitive to green undertones and strongly dislike them, you might find Quietude WAY TOO GREEN. On the other hand, if you were looking for a green-blue blend, with the green being dominant, you may find Quietude a bit too blue. While the blue isn’t DOMINANT, it certainly plays a part in this color’s makeup, shifting it away from the traditional look of green.

HOWEVER, at its roots, Quietude is a green paint color (that really really really loves blue).

But we’re not done yet! Quietude ALSO has a gray undertone which is what calms it down, making for a more subtle approach to the colorful end of things. However, this gray is REASONABLY muted, leaving you with lots of beautiful color to enjoy.
