What type of paint color is Serenely – gray or blue?
Serenely is bound to be one of the best, most popular light blue paint colors. But, all blues are NOT created equal, so we’ll be talking about its undertones, LRV, and more in a few moments.
If you have north-facing light, which has a gray-blue tint to it, expect Serenely to look a bit cooler and for its color to be enhanced. If you have south-facing light or warm western afternoon sunshine, Serenely will still look blue, but it will be a bit softer – less fresh and crisp and potentially a wink more blue-green.
What’s its LRV?
Serenely has an LRV of 66. This LRV makes Serenely a light depth paint color, which means that if you have an overly bright room or a wall that gets a good hit of light, it WILL washout. However, this can change a lot throughout the day, so make sure you judge it based on a 24 hr period. If you have a dark room and want to paint it gray, Serenely is a GREAT alternative as its increased chroma (color) can help to off-set a darker room with flatter light.
Not sure what LRV is? It could save your paint lovin’ life – read all about it HERE.
What are the undertones of Serenely? Will it look blue-green or blue-gray?
Serenely is definitely a blue-gray, however, it does have a wink of green hiding in it. You might notice this green more in southern light or afternoon western sunshine, whereas the blue might be more obvious in northern light.
You’ll also want to pay close attention to your LIGHT BULBS, as they will definitely sway how Serenely looks!
What’s the best way to sample paint colors on my walls?
Like with every paint color, I highly recommend using SAMPLIZE. Samplize is a peel & stick paint sample that you can easily move around your room for over HALF THE COST of traditional sample pots – and they deliver right to your front door!

If I’m painting my walls Serenely, what’s the best white paint color for my trim?
Being a cool color with a slightly more noticeable chroma/intensity Serenely will be a BIT fussy as to its white partners. I would focus on…
- Sherwin Williams High Reflective White (fave)
- Sherwin Williams Extra White
- Sherwin Williams Pure White (fave)
Which Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams paint colors are the same as or similar to Serenely?
GOOD QUESTION! With Serenely being new on the scene, it can be helpful to see some comparisons. Just remember, every color has its own particular nuances and there will be NO perfect match – you WILL see shifts in undertones, temperature and depths.

What type of paint colors look good with Serenely?
Serenely is going to love other blues with a similar undertone profile, such as Sherwin Williams Mantra and Stargazer. However, having more color to it, it will be finicky about its partners. You can also consider…
- some other blue-gray blends
- soft warm whites
- clean crisp whites
- green or violet paint colors with similar degrees of color
