Kilim Beige: a popular WARM beige paint color
When it comes to beige paint colors, it can be hard to find one with JUST the right undertones to suit your countertops, tile, and furniture, AS WELL as your personal preferences! This is why Kilim Beige could be a contender as it seems to suit a WIDE range of interior finishes and personal tastes.
What type of paint color is Kilim Beige? It is warm or cool? Beige or tan?
Kilim Beige is DEFINITELY a warm paint color that’s actually warmer and more intense than many of the other popular beige paint colors. And yes, Kilim Beige IS a beige with a blend of undertones that set it apart from tan paint colors.
Are Beige & Tan The Same Thing?
What’s the LRV of Kilim Beige?
Kilim Beige has an LRV of almost 57. This puts Kilim in the light range but it has a bit more body and depth than some of the more typical, lighter beige paint colors.

What are Kilim Beige’s undertones? Will it look orange or pink?
When it comes to the undertones of Kilim Beige, it ALL depends on how sensitive you are. It DOES have an orange-pink undertone, but I’ve had MANY Color Consulting clients who’ve found it to be the perfect neutral for their home and they don’t see the undertones at all.
However, if you place Kilim Beige alongside green, blue, or neutrals with these cool undertones, you might see the undertones of Kilim Beige a whole lot more (opposites can make each other stronger)!
You’ll also see an interesting shift depending on your EXPOSURE. Kilim Beige CAN be a bit toasty looking in the warmth of south-facing light or afternoon western light, but that ALSO depends on your personal preferences, because if you love a warm-looking room, it could be right up your alley!

What’s the best white trim or cabinet color with Kilim Beige walls?
Kilim Beige can be a bit tricky with its orange-pink undertones. Why? Well, the POPULAR whites have a yellow undertone (or are SUPER white). When it comes to Kilim Beige, I often look at soft off-white paint colors for trims and cabinets, for example:
- Sherwin Williams Moderate White
- Sherwin Williams Divine White
And you can get EITHER of these off-whites lightened by 25% if you want to brighten them up a touch.
If you’re more inclined towards white trim/cabinets, your best options are…
- Sherwin Williams Alabaster
- Benjamin Moore White Dove
- Sherwin Williams Pure White

Is Kilim Beige a good color for the exterior of my home?
It really depends on your stonework, brickwork, and roof color. Kilim Beige works QUITE well with many of the warmer stone options as well as some brick colors, as long as they have that orange-pink undertone in them as well.

5 Tips for Choosing an Exterior Paint Color
Is Kilim Beige a popular paint color right now?
You bet it is! While a lot of people WANT a more neutral-looking beige or tan paint color, Kilim Beige works with a lot of the tiles, countertops, and carpets from the late 90s and 2000s, as many of these products harbour similar undertones (especially travertine tiles).

What paint colors are the same as or similar to Kilim Beige?
When choosing the best paint color for your home, it’s important to COMPARE COMPARE COMPARE. So, let’s take a look at Kilim Beige to see how it compares to other popular beige paint colors…
SHERWIN WILLIAMS KILIM BEIGE vs ACCESSIBLE BEIGE
The BIG difference between Kilim Beige and Accessible Beige is in POPULARITY. While both are beige paint colors, Kilim Beige has a considerably stronger orange hue to it, along with a subtle pink.
On the other hand, Accessible is far more muted in its approach and not inclined towards pink, making it a much more popular choice (as long as it suits the interior finishes). As shown in the above example, Accessible Beige appears almost GRAYISH in comparison to the warmth of Kilim Beige (keeping in mind that BOTH samples should have white paper around them to be viewed fairly).

KILIM BEIGE vs SOFTER TAN
When comparing Kilim Beige and Softer Tan, it comes down to which undertone combinations your home is needing. Kilim Beige favours an orange undertone that nods slightly at pink. Softer Tan has the same orange undertone but can pick up a wink of yellow and the ODD time, even a tiny flash o’ green. Of the two, Kilim Beige is more popular as it tends to suit more interior finishes than Softer Tan.
KILIM BEIGE vs NATURAL LINEN
Kilim Beige and Natural Linen are quite comparable in their INTENTIONS as both have an orange undertone. HOWEVER, Natural Linen is a bit less likely to grab as much pink and can even nod ‘politely’ at yellow. It also sits 9 LRV points higher than Kilim Beige, making it a lighter more MODERN approach to beige.

What type of paint colors coordinate with Kilim Beige?
Kilim Beige does have a few considerations as it’s a beige with a bit more body and depth than the average warm neutral. Kilim Beige likes to be partnered with…
- Some gray paint colors that are the same depth OR darker than it. It doesn’t love gray paint colors that have a HIGHER LRV.
- Some greige or taupe paint colors that again, are the same depth or DARKER than Kilim Beige.
- Blue-green blends that are a bit darker or even considerably darker.
- Light beige and cream paint colors that nod towards a similar undertone blend.

Thank you for the information. I have Kilem Beige in house with travertine floors. But for some reason, the owners have a darker (unknown) color on the ceilings. Would you use a Pure White or prefer a Divine White 25% lighter for the ceilings. (sadly trim is also unknown). thank you for your insights. I am really enjoying your videos and am learning to think about color in a different way.

Hi! I would lean into Divine White or Moderate White and yes, would try them a bit lighter 🙂
Hi! I have honey oak floors…kinda on the “orange” side. We also have north western facing windows. Would Kilim beige work in this space?

It’s hard to say for sure without seeing the space, but it SOUNDS good 🙂
I have Kilim beige trim, shutters and wainscoting throughout my great room, foyer and kitchen. The rooms have eastern and western exposure. I’m looking for a nice neutral wall color to repaint but don’t want any pink or yellow hues to show in the trim or wall color. I’m thinking a beige or taupe. Would Duck White, Oyster White or White Sesame be good options or would deepening Kilim beige or one of these lighter shades to a darker shade look better?

Hi Dana, I hate to tell you this, but Kilim Beige calls some pretty clear shots and it doesn’t want ANY of those colors (they’re all yellow base and will clash with Kilim Beige which has orange). Your best bet is to stick with Kilim Beige, as-is or darkened. Sometimes we want to update our home to a certain look, but the existing finishes won’t let us – Kilm Beige will DEFINITELY hold you back. I mean, you could try an off-white beige, so at least it has the same undertones as Kilim BEige, but overall, I don’t think it will move your home forward. Sometimes there’s nothing you can do until you fix the main challenge.
