Benjamin Moore Shaker Beige: A popular warm neutral paint color
Are you ready to SHAKE IT BABY? Because today, we’re taking a look at one of the more popular, slightly old-school, beige paint colors – Benjamin Moore Shaker Beige.
In order to show you RELATEABLE & REAL homes, I ONLY use photos from my Online Color Consulting clients. This means I don’t always have the quality pics I need (hence the ‘QUICK Review’), but DEFINITELY have some SUPER helpful info to help you on your way!
What type of paint color is Shaker Beige? Is it warm or cool?
Shaker Beige is ABSOLUTELY a warm beige paint color with a bit more undertone/warmth than many of today’s popular beige and tan paint colors.

What’s the LRV of Shaker Beige?
Shaker Beige has an LRV of 54.61, making it a light-medium depth paint color. If you have a super bright room, you’ll find this LRV holds itself a bit better than a color with a higher LRV, which can easily wash out in a well-lit room.
Not sure what LRV is? It could save your paint lovin’ life – read all about it HERE.

What are the undertones of Shaker Beige? Will it look orange, yellow, pink or like a TRUE beige?
Shaker Beige favours an orange undertone but does nod politely to pink (just a bit).
What’s the best way to sample Shaker Beige and other paint colors?
Like with every paint color, I highly recommend using SAMPLIZE. Samplize is a peel & stick paint sample that you can easily move around your room for over HALF THE COST of traditional sample pots – and they deliver right to your front door!

What’s the best white trim paint color with Shaker Beige walls?
With Shaker Beige on the walls, I would look at a white paint color like Benjamin Moore Cloud White or Benjamin Moore Simply White.BTW, in the above photo, you can see that the fireplace tile would love a beige with a touch more pink in it (this is my client’s before photo).

Is Shaker Beige a popular paint color right now?
Shaker Beige isn’t super popular only because that’s not where the trends are right now. If my Online Paint Color Consulting clients are looking for a beige, they’re usually wanting a more muted approach.
What Sherwin Williams paint colors look like Shaker Beige?
No matter how hard you try to find a match, every color/brand has its own particular nuances and there will be NO perfect carbon copy – you WILL see shifts in undertones, temperature and depths, but you could check out a color with similar intentions…
- Sherwin Williams Kilim Beige
BTW, if you’re thinking of color matching between brands (ie: getting BM to make an SW paint color), you might want to read THIS first.
Does Shaker Beige suit many other paint colors?
Shaker Beige is a BIT finicky but likes to be in a color palette with colors such…
- Earth-tones that are the same depth/LRV of darker
- Gray-blue blends that have a bit more depth and body to them
- Gray-green-blue blends
- Muted, earthy green paint colors
- Darker charcoals with a green undertone

Chat soon,
I am looking for a brown-beige that doesn’t show undertones of pink or green in a south facing dining room. The wainscoting is already Simply White. An adjacent room has trim in Acacia Haze (green) with brown tones in library walls. Floors are medium brown with gray tones. Furniture is antique brown with slipcovered chairs in cream. Just need a few suggestions as I am already on overload with both sample pots & Samplize sheets. Help!
Hi Kylie,
I would love to know if you have ever lightened Shaker Beige by 25% or more and if that might make it more “modern”. Or is SB already considered a modern beige again ??? We’ve had it since 2010 as our whole interior home color and do like it. The undertones match our pinky orange beige flooring well but we were hoping to go a bit lighter now. I’m afraid of the yellow-green undertones in Manchester Tan and Accessible Beige looks to cold/gray in our double story north-facing living room.
Any insight would be so appreciated! I’ve learned so much from your website/blogs!!
Sample :
sw kilim beige
Bm elmira white
Bm muslin
Sw patience
And if you want something even lighter, try
Sw divine white or shoji white.
