WHAT TYPE OF COLOR IS LULLABY-BLUE OR GRAY?

Sherwin Williams Lullaby isn’t a true-blue paint color, as it has a gray base to calm it down. This means that while Lullaby has a very noticeable color or chroma, it’s not overwhelming. Just keep in mind that all blues are NOT created equal.

Lullaby can be pretty in room with cooler, north-facing light, but ONLY if you’re comfortable with a considerably cool look. Because it’s a cool paint color (blue), its color and temperature will only be enhanced by the already cool northern light.

On the other hand, if you have a room with south-facing or warm western afternoon sunshine, Lullaby is an awesome way to balance out those warm rays beaming in your windows!

North, East, South, West – Which Paint Color is the Best?

WHAT’S LULLABY’S LRV?

Lullaby is a light-depth paint color with an LRV of 65. If you have a super bright room, it will wash out. Just remember that this can change a lot throughout the day, so make sure you judge it based on a full day. If you have a dark room, a color like Lullaby is a great way to add some personality.

How?

Well, take Misty, for example (which we’ll look at shortly). It’s more of a ‘gray with a blue undertone.’ If you have a dark room, there isn’t necessarily enough blue for this color to ‘show up at the party.’ Lullaby has enough blue to show up better in rooms with lower light.

Not sure what LRV is? It could save your paint-lovin’ life – read all about it HERE.

WHAT ARE LULLABY’S UNDERTONES?

While Lullaby does commit to its blue, there’s a weee tiny wink of green in there. Is it enough to worry about if you don’t like green? Oh HECK no. Want more green? Well, I’ve got that, too (coming up shortly).

You’ll also want to pay close attention to the Kelvins of your LIGHT BULBS, as they will definitely sway how Lullaby looks!

Lullaby has a bit more color than some of the more muted gray-blues and will be a bit finicky. Check out…

WHAT COLORS ARE SIMILAR TO LULLABY?

GOOD QUESTION! While there are a few, please remember that every color has its own particular nuances, and there will be no perfect match – you’ll see shifts in undertones, temperature, and depths.

SHERWIN WILLIAMS LULLABY VS. SEA SALT

Ahhh, who will win this battle? Well, not only is it good on chips, but Sea Salt is also the most popular for walls.

In terms of ‘comparison,’ you’re not really comparing similar colors, as Lullaby is blue and Sea Salt is green. However, they have a similar vibe with a comparable smoky gray backdrop calming them down.

The Best Paint Colors to Update Dark Wood

What’s interesting is that while Sea Salt can look surprisingly blue in some rooms, once you compare it to the committed blue of Lullaby, it’s easy to see where its allegiance lies.

As for depth, Sea Salt has an LRV of 63, so it’s a smidge darker than Lullaby’s 65.

LULLABY VS SHERWIN WILLIAMS MISTY

Sherwin Williams Misty (mentioned earlier) picks up what Lullaby throws down, but it adds more gray to the mix. So, whereas Lullaby won’t have you doubting its hue, Misty comes at blue much more subtly – still blue…ish, but with a buttload of gray, to the point that it can read more like a gray with a blue undertone.

As for depth, they’re almost the same, with Misty’s LRV of 64 to Sea Salt’s 65.

If you want a commitment to blue – no messin’ around, Lullaby is probably your best choice. However, if you want a more coastal, calm look with a moodier backdrop, Misty might be your gal.

BENJAMIN MOORE COLORS THAT ARE SIMILAR

If you want to switch brands for any reason, you might want to know Lullaby’s alternative in Benjamin Moore. Keep in mind they don’t have a color that’s SUPER close.

  • Benjamin Moore Glass Slipper is quite similar in its overall color but is lighter, with an LRV of 70.
  • Benjamin Moore Summer Shower is great if you want a bit more blue and less gray than Lullaby. It’s also lighter (closer to 70).
  • Benjamin Moore Pale Smoke is the closest comparable to Lullaby, with an LRV of 63.6. As its name suggests, it’s a bit smokier, too, with a touch more green blended in.

WHAT COLORS GO WITH LULLABY?

Lullaby is going to be a bit picky, especially as it relates to neutrals. While not all of these colors are meant to be right next to Lullaby (e.g., accent wall or cabinets), there’s a range here to explore for those areas, as well as adjoining rooms…

Not sure if Lullaby is the BLUE for YOU? I’ve got more!

  1. We have lulllabye in our northeast facing mudroom. It’s quiet and serene but it has some depth. I like it most in the evenings with artificial lighting dimmed a little. Our recessed lights are 2700k so it warms the space. It looks very clean and crisp throughout the day.

  2. I just painted 3 bedrooms with Sherwin Williams Lullaby paint. The ceilings are flat white and 8 inch drop down and trim are satan white. Beautiful relaxing fresh look. More blue than gray. I was surprised with that. Dark brown furniture goes well with it. I just don’t know what color I should accessorize in term of bedding and wall hangings. Any suggestions?
