The Top Moody Shades of Pink
Previously, I wrote about the best pink paint colors—those with a bit more color and intention. While those will satisfy some of you, others aren’t quite as committed to color—or they are; they just don’t want their pink-inspired walls to be overwhelming or overbearing. That’s why the pinks in this blog post are on the fringe.
Are they still PINK?
Absolutely, but they can also be called ‘rosy, dusky, blush-inspired, moody, earth-toned, etc.‘
Let’s be honest: Sometimes, a little pink can go a long way, especially if you want to create a more mature, cultivated look in your pink-inspired room.
So, without further ado, let’s see what these pink hues can do for you!
1. BENJAMIN MOORE CHARMEUSE AF-265
There’s no shade of pink more charming than Charmeuse. With a soft gray backdrop and a feather-light commitment to pink, Charmeuse is a gorgeous approach to color.

- Sample and compare Benjamin Moore Soft Sand, as it’s a touch cooler toned than Charmeuse.
2. BENJAMIN MOORE SAVORY CREAM 2105-70
Savoury Cream is warm, earthy, and a super gentle approach to pink. With an LRV of 76.13, Savory Cream is off-white, so you’ll notice the contrast between your walls and white trim without adding too much visual weight to your room.

- For a bit more life and energy while still having similar intentions, you must check out Benjamin Moore’s Victorian Lace – Early Sunset is great, too.
3. SHERWIN WILLIAMS ABALONE SHELL SW 6050
If Charmeuse is more muted than you want, but you don’t want to tip the scales into the brighter pink world, you might love Abalone Shell. This gorgeous shade is pink but has a muted, rosy look thanks to its warm brown base.

- Benjamin Moore’s Malted Milk is an awesome alternative to Abalone Shell; it’s so good, I could almost drink it. Sadly, my glass is already full of wine.
- For a bit more color, check out Benjamin Moore’s Southern Comfort. This is one that I’ll dump my wine out for.
4. BENJAMIN MOORE DRIFTSCAPE TAN 2106-50
Any time I look at Driftscape Tan, I heave a big sigh – a good sigh. Driftscape Tan is just so grounded, so calming and muted, while still picking up a rosy hue. Admittedly, it’s a bit more mauve than pink (due to its increased violet), but it’s so stinkin’ pretty! Compared to many of the options suggested in this blog post, this color is a more earth-toned take on things.

- I would definitely check out Sand Pebble, which leans back into rose a bit more and also grabs a touch more color on the way.
- Benjamin Moore’s Hint of Mauve grabs a bit more color without going over the top.
5. BENJAMIN MOORE MONTICELLO ROSE HC-63
If you’re looking for a classic rose hue with a dusky softness, look no further than Monticello Rose. This beautiful shade of rosy pink has an LRV of 46.07, which puts it in the light-medium range and creates a more moody vibe for your room. While it looks WAY more powerful and colorful than Driftscape Tan, on the big scale, it’s still a reasonably muted take on pink.

- Benjamin Moore Chippendale Rosetone is DARN SIMILAR to Monticello Rose and a great pink to sample and compare.
- Sherwin Williams Sashay Sand is more muted and grounded than Monticello Rose.
- Benjamin Moore Cappuccino is another one that’s a bit more earthy than Monticello Rose as it has a bit more brown in it.
6. BENJAMIN MOORE MISTY BLUSH 2097-60
Misty Blush is a soft, misted take on pink thanks to its warm brown undertone. While this blush isn’t colorful enough to put on my cheeks, it’s got JUST the right vibe to put on my walls.

- Another similar shade is Benjamin Moore Acapulco Sands, which is great for comparison.
- Benjamin Moore’s Wisp of Mauve adds a bit more violet back into the mix.
7. SHERWIN WILLIAMS CHELSEA MAUVE SW 6044
While the previous shades are more committed to pink, I wanted to share an option that flips the scales a bit, where pink is more of a backdrop to a stronger neutral base.
Chelsea Mauve is PERFECT for those who are pink-averse yet find appeal in a whisper of gentle rose via a subtle shade of mauve. This color is neutral FIRST; it just happens to be one with a beautiful dusky pink undertone.

- For a color that’s a bit lighter and has a touch more color/undertone, check out Benjamin Moore’s Shabby Chic.
- Benjamin Moore Meadow Pink picks up a bit more color and bridges some of the gap between the neutral and slightly more colorful worlds.
8. BENJAMIN MOORE FLAX 2098-50
Flax is a color that sits on the border of rose and taupe or mauve and can be open to perception. If you ask me, Flax is more of a mauve due to its increased violet hue, but it’s all in the eye of the beholder!
Flax has an LRV of 41.54, making it one of the darker shades in this blog post. And while it has that lovely rosy pink foundation, it has a good whack of violet and brown mixed in.
