Sherwin Williams Colour of the Year is Coral!
I am SO excited that Sherwin Williams has branched outside of the predictable and delved into the realm of ‘simply stunning’ with their 2015 Colour of The Year.
Coral Reef is the most perfect blend of pink, orange and red – giving you a colour that is rich, warm, fresh and exciting – all at the same time!
Now how do Coral Reef and other coral colours relate to the average homeowner? In many wild and wonderful ways – that’s how! Whether you paint a room, a feature wall, a door, a piece of furniture or accessories…
Coral is the new orange!
Why is Coral Reef so great?
- It will brighten up a North facing room whether it’s used as a feature or an accent.
- It’s flexible and will accommodate a variety of other accent colours such as teal, mustard, robins egg blue, green and more.
- Makes a stunning impact on painted furniture or a bright and cheery accent as a feature wall.
- Fun enough for kids rooms, flirty enough for adult spaces!
- Looks GREAT when paired with light, medium and dark gray paint colours.
Coral Reef on painted furniture and cabinets
Coral Reef looks great here with soft gray walls and white accents. A bathroom palette like this doesn’t need more, the coral speaks for itself!
Coral Reef picks up a fantastic vintage vibe when paired with bronze/brass accessories.
Coral Reef as a feature wall or main wall colour
I love how it looks grown-up, yet still playful in this bedroom. The robins egg blue accents really off-set the rich warmth of this colour.

Looks FABULOUS! Need I say more? SURE! The great thing about this idea is that when you’re tired of coral (like when next years big colour trend rolls around), you’re only a quart of paint away from a fresh new look!

I absolutely love Coral Reef with this high contrasting colour palate – fun and chic and SO striking with navy!
Don’t be afraid to go big and bold with your Coral accents. Whether it’s with artwork, cushions or accent pieces, Coral Reef makes a great addition to any room!
