I realize you are run off your feet.
My name is Laurie Raga from Campbell River, and I’m just a good ol’ down to earth lady with a brain injury.
that aside, we owned a waterfront home, AND I AM PLEASED TO SAY, I decorated the whole 2600 sq ft home
myself. Thanks to people like Candice Olsen etc, I have always loved color, design, etc. I was sponge painting peoples homes in the 80’s, you are too young to remember that.
Anyway, when we listed our home for too much money, we had an accepted offer on the first day. Yahoo.
It was listed with century 21.
then a while later, I discovered, that realtors had chosen my home as 1 of 10 in B.C., to showcase, in their yearly magazine. We had no granite, NO ESTATE, just a real warm feel to the inside that I created. I was quite proud of myself
as I have no training, and am not wealthy.
The reason I am writing you, is because I check out your site every other month if possible, and I am beginning radiation soon, so our 3 month kitchen renovation is now honestly going into its second yr, as my husband had a stroke in july 2017 right after retiring.
I don’t want anything from you,
I JUST WANT TO SAY,
that you are MY CANDICE OLSEN.
Your work is absolutely fabulous, and you should be so very very proud of yourself.
You did some staging for a friend of mine in Nanaimo, and it looked great.
I hope once all of this nightmare is over for me, to one day hire you for some tips on cheering up the outside of our home.
Thanks so much for all of your inspiration Kylie.
Your work touches me in more ways than you know.
sincerely, Laurie Raga

Oh Laurie, you made me cry! What a note to get. I don’t even know what to say…and hey, I just caught the edge of sponge painting fever – ugh.
I do hope your next few months go as easy as possible. And you know, in the next month or so, I’m putting out my E-book that is for homeowners who want to reclaim their space and decorate it – without blowing the bank. More of a ‘learn how to decorate with what you have’ vs a ‘let’s spend TONS of money!’. When it’s done, I’m going to send you a copy. It’s just PDF, but at 150 pages, it will surely give you something to think about as you heal :). I’ve done 2 other books, but they are for home staging, so this book will be SUPER fun for those who just want to enjoy the home they have 🙂
Lots of hugs to you,

Hi again Kylie,
I am so elated to be back home in Campbell River following 4 weeks of radiation. It is nothing to fear whatsoever. Quite frankly, a piece of cake to be truthful. 14 yrs ago I had chemo. That was quite a lot more difficult, but again, NOTHING to be afraid of.
Sorry for not thanking you for your generosity. I shall enjoy every page. When I get my “ACT” together, I may require your help with choosing an interesting color to spray my maple cabinets. It is such a huge decision, and if I had no history of being sick, I would choose something that I loved, with no concern of what others think, which is usually how I decorate. LOL However, this time, I must think seriously concerning re-sale , as I have a guarded prognosis. So, fire engine red is OUT, but something timeless is what I am thinking.
There are more “whites” to choose from, than a North American phone book. I have a dark stained maple large island with a 36′ induction placed into it, and is that ever a nice feature not to have so much heat from the GAS stove top I “DID” have.
I will close now young lady, and let you get on with your evening.
Thanks again Kylie,
Best of the season to you and your clan
Sincerely, Laurie (the Queen of Craigslist)
