Our Open Layout Dining Room

This is an older blog post but has been updated!

Our dining room is like a revolving door of colour and furnishings.

You are now entering the madness…

When we bought our home (3 years ago) it had a ridonculous layout with a ridonculous wall between the kitchen and dining room with a pass-thru in the middle – great for puppet shows but that was about it.

This is what it looked like when we first saw it. And yes, that is probably the smallest picture that has ever been hung on a large wall – WHO WERE THESE PEOPLE!

The idea was fine, but the function was terrible. Once we moved in, we put a larger table on the kitchen side of things and never used the dining room.

So, after a bottle of wine (or 2) and some sweet talk ‘we’ decided that it was time for the wall to go.

Of course, you know that Tim just loooves doing this kind of stuff…ya right – I lent him my tools.

I was in the mood for something warm when I painted the end wall Tawny Rose by Benjamin Moore. It’s been there for about 6 months and is still going strong – IT’S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!

By removing the wall (which really wasn’t that hard – says me, who didn’t have to do it) we were able to create an open layout kitchen, dining and sitting area with an open office space – yahoo!
