Before and After: Brick Home Front Door Colour Makeover
Featuring: Front Door Colour Consultation Package
As I’m sure you know, paint colours (and wine drinking) are kind of m’ thang and you have NOOO idea how excited it makes me when clients send me ‘after’ photos (and wine bottles with integrated straws).
In fact, I’ve decided to start a monthly ‘Online Colour Consult / E-décor’ series, highlighting a fave project of the month! In fact, maybe I’ll do even more than 1 a month if I get some good feedback (BTW – that is a passive aggressive request for feedback…)
What are the prerequisites to be featured on my blog?
- You have used my Online Decorating Services (of course)
- You did what you were told (wink wink) and have a freshly painted/decorated space
- You can take decent photos worthy of a blog post/Pinterest (knowing I can do a bit of editing to jazz them up and watermark them)
- You want to have a blog post dedicated to YOU and your home (you’ll be kind of a big deal). If you’re happy to see your photos, but don’t want any identifying info that is TOTALLY okay with me.
- I see the potential in your home as a good fit for a blog post
So, enough chitter chatter, let’s get at ‘er!
E-Décor Front Door Consultation
Emmie had the picture perfect home with the type of brick that has a TON of fun colour opportunities!
And there wasn’t really anything WRONG with the black, but it supports my belief that black doors are a tough sell in a glossy finish – it can be DAMN hard to get a consistent, flawless look (like my face – wink wink). The colour itself looked sharp and classic, but she was looking for something a bit more fun, with some personality!
Emmie chose the ‘Front Door Paint Colour Consultation – $45’. Using the photos she sent and guided by the answers on her personalized questionnaire, I gave her 4 beautiful colours to choose from that included explanations so she could understand the ‘why’ of it all.

From the 4 selections she chose Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue (my FAVE!) and I’m THRILLED with how it turned out! (because it IS all about me, remember that).

What a beautiful change. I definitely need help choosing a colour for my front door. I need to wait until spring, however. Hard to get decent pictures right now with all the snow and ice here in Ontario.
Hi I love the choice of door colour too. I was just wondering what the other 3 were and what the pros and cons were? I’m also interested in why the client chose that colour? IMO it makes the front look very inviting and less austere than the black. Can you share some of the thoughts behind the colour choices? Thanks.
Kylie, you’re amazing! How in the world do you look at brick house and chose a blue door? It’s beautiful!
